1. What is Laser Vision Correction?
A: Laser Vision Correction uses the Excimer Laser to reshape the front surface of the eye to allow images to focus sharply on the retina. The laser emits pulses of cool ultraviolet light to remove microns (small amounts) of tissue from the cornea.

2. How long does the procedure take?
A: The laser treatment itself takes approximately 60 seconds or less depending on the amount of correction you need. Expect to be at the office for about 1 hour for the entire procedure.

3. Will I be put to sleep?
A: No. You will receive several drops of topical anesthesia to numb the eye. In addition to the drops, you will also be given an oral medication to help you relax.

4. Does it hurt?
A: The surgery itself is pain free!! You may have a scratchy, sandy feeling, or it may feel like a dirty contact lens is in the eye for a day or two following surgery.

5. Will I need to wear glasses or contacts after the procedure?
A: Most of the time patients are able to function without the need for glasses or contacts lenses after Laser Vision Correction. In fact, 98% of patients are able to drive legally without the need for glasses.

6. How long will I be out of work?
A: Most patients are able to return to work the next day!

7. Are there any restrictions after the procedure?
A: There are just a few restrictions after Laser Vision Correction. For example, swimming and rubbing the eye vigorously should be avoided for two weeks.

8. Does insurance cover laser vision correction?
A: Although most insurance companies consider Laser Vision Correction procedures to be elective surgery, all plans and individual policies are a little different. We will be happy to check with your individual carrier for you. Even if it doesn't cover the cost of the procedure, we do offer several payment options including low interest financing.

9. How long has laser vision correction been around?
A: Laser Vision Correction has been performed around the world since 1988. Dr. Foote has performed refractive surgery for over ten years. He is one of the first in the metro Milwaukee area to perform LTK, a procedure designed to correct farsightedness in individuals over 40. Over one million people have had Laser Vision Correction to correct their refreactive errors.
